Nvidia’s one-month GeForce Now RTX 3080 membership can get you through it until GPU prices drop
Nvidia shared the news today that it will offer a single-month membership to its GeForce Now game streaming service on the RTX 3080 tier for $20 per month. In November, Nvidia rolled out the RTX 3080 Geforce Now update with a 6-month subscription plan for $100.
Geforce Now allows users to play games from a variety of digital game libraries from GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store and more from a virtual gaming PC in the cloud through a browser or app. GeForce Now RTX 3080 membership gives you access to a powerful virtual gaming PC capable of turning anything from a smartphone, tablet or small work laptop into a 1440p/120fps (1600p/120fps on Mac) ray-tracing beast .
Shield TV users can even stream 4K at 60fps with HDR as long as the internet connection is above 35Mbps. This level also grants you 8 hours of playtime. Connect a bluetooth controller and you’ve got a very cheap next-gen console.
In addition to the RTX 3080, GeForce Now offers a $10 per month ($50 for 6) priority membership that lets you stream content up to 1080p at 60fps in a 6-hour gaming session. The free tier enables you to stream one-hour chunks from its “basic rig.”
You should note that the paid service gives you priority access to GeForce Now servers, so anyone on the free tier may have to wait in line during peak usage. We recommend trying the service on a free membership to see if your bandwidth can handle low-end streaming games before spending any cash.
We screwed up the RTX 3080 service while it was in beta and were pretty shocked at how well some games worked. In an age where you can’t get an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 (and a graphics card) anytime soon, the GeForce Now RTX 3080 could also be an affordable upgrade.
