Over 1,000 Steam deck games are now “Verified” or “Playable”

With the Steam platform finally in the hands of customers around the world, Valve continues to be busy testing all 50,000+ Steam games for compatibility. Now, the company shares that it has reached a new milestone in the number of video games certified for handheld gaming PCs.
In a Steam Community post, Valve celebrated “there are now over a thousand games verified or playable on the Deck” and discussed what exactly this means for the present and future of its portable powerhouse. The company emphasizes that any compatibility ratings are subject to change, meaning that many video games could soon go from “playable” or “unsupported” to and with some work from the developers the coveted “” Verified” status.
For example, Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment was able to quickly upgrade the game from “unsupported” to “verified”, most likely after updating the game’s Easy Anti-Cheat implementation. However, this fix may not be so straightforward for other developers and games like Warhammer: Vermintide 2.
To improve communication between Steam Deck users and developers, Valve has introduced a new feature that allows development studios to point players in the direction of community posts related to their game’s Deck compatibility. This should help alleviate any confusion as to when (or if) developers are committed to getting their video games to work on portable PCs.

While it’s great to see Valve get popular games up and running on Steam, if the company keeps up this pace, it’s going to be a while before we know how all 50,000-plus games work on Steam. At the time of this writing, the largest compatibility category is “Not Supported”, with 763 in total. In comparison, there are 668 “verified” and “555” playable games.
