Overwatch 2 beta launches April 26 on PC

Blizzard has shared more details on the Overwatch 2 beta, which is now set to begin on April 26. The announcement came as part of a developer livestream where the team discussed the current ongoing alpha for kids and families and looking forward to the future.

The beta will use the new 5v5 gameplay, a major part of Overwatch 2’s revamping of its predecessor’s formula. It will also include a new hero, Sojourn, and a new game mode called Push. In this mode, you need to fight to control the robot and push it towards the enemy base. The beta will also include four maps, revamps for Orisa, Doomfist, Bastion, and Sombra, as well as a new Ping system.

You can sign up for the closed beta through the Overwatch website. Beta testing will be conducted in multiple phases, so if you were not selected for the first test on April 26, you may still be selected for subsequent testing.

Blizzard recently announced alpha and beta testing, with news that PvP is “decoupling” from PvE. It’s unclear how long the test will last or when the game will launch. Activision Blizzard has delayed Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 without new release dates, but its forward-looking financial statements suggest we may not see them until 2023.
