Overwolf has a robust lineup of in-game apps that offer a range of features to add to your favorite games. (Hey, you should check out the PCGN Overwolf app here.) Now the people behind Overwolf are investing in Kidas, a company developing AI-powered apps to help prevent cyberbullying in multiplayer games.

“This partnership fully aligns with Overwolf’s stance on responsible gaming and supports our core values โ€‹โ€‹of gaming safety and integrity,” Overwolf’s vice president of business development said in a statement to VentureBeat. Kidas’ app supports about 120 games, and Overwolf plans to expand that to 9,000 games in its library.

As the developers explain on the official website, “Kidas is a tool to help you identify and address any dangerous situation your child may encounter when interacting with others in video games, from cyberbullying to predatory behavior. Kidas Your child’s play activities and in-game communications are analysed to alert you of any potentially relevant situations.”

Kidas uses an algorithm trained on real examples of cyberbullying and predatory behavior. Not only can it be used as a text chat filter, but it can also monitor voice communications and let parents know if there is a problem with someone their child is interacting with online.
