Path of Exile: Siege of Atlas expansion coming in February

🖥️

Grinding Gear Games has announced Siege of the Atlas, a new free-to-play Path of Exile expansion set to launch early next month.

The February 4 PC version and February 9 PS4 and Xbox One versions of Battle for Atlas will feature a new Atlas system, pinnacle bosses, a “huge” Atlas passive skill tree, Eldritch endgame crafting, unique items, Archnemesis Challenge Alliance, and more. After defeating Chitava, players will meet Commander Chirac on the coast of Karui and join his militia to defend the World Atlas. During this time, the envoy will communicate that two terrible horrors, the Searing Bishop and the Eater of Worlds, are approaching and will consume everything.

The Searing Archbishop and Eater of Worlds are “the most powerful beings the Wraeclast has ever seen”, and defeating them involves exploring the map and killing subordinates, Black Star, and Infinite Hunger for valuable rewards.

For this endgame expansion, the Atlas mechanics have been reworked, “with the goal of creating a deeper system that’s easier to understand.” Zones have also been removed, so a player’s Atlas specialization affects every map they run on , while players used to collect 16 Watchstones, players now need to acquire 4 Void Stones, which allows them to level up all maps until they reach level 16 in unison. Can be applied to Void Stones and itemized and traded.

The release of Atlas Siege will also remove the Atlas passive tree and introduce a large Atlas passive tree with over 600 abilities. Each map, as well as various quests, earn players skill points that can be used to level their trees.

The Archnemesis Alliance is another new addition to Path of Exile, and it will require players to build their own rare boss battles by applying new monster modifiers to petrified monsters. Modifiers add dangerous behavior to targets, but also instill valuable rewards for them, and there are over 60 new boss modifiers to discover.

Various other updates include four new Atlas bosses, each with their own new unique item drop pool, a dozen in total, game balance improvements, and a new stash tab that allows players to store up to 500 Gems or Flasks and filter between types, and a competitive event where players will compete in the Archnemesis Hardcore Solo Self-found League to be the first to defeat three bosses: Maven, Searing Bishop and Eater of Worlds .

Grinding Gear Games will also be releasing two new Backer Packs from the Wyrm and Emberkeep series to celebrate the release of Battle for Atlas and Alliance of Rivals, and will feature exclusive microtransactions.
