Niantic has announced the full schedule for Pokemon Go’s Mega Raids in April, and starting April 5th, trainers may find themselves knocked down by powerful electric-powered Mega Pokemons.

Mega Manectric is named the next Pokemon Go Mega Raid and runs from April 5th to April 12th. Mega Manectric’s time as the star of Mega Raid coincides with the inaugural season of Alola events that brings Gen VII Pokemon to the mobile game. Mega Manectric will follow current Mega Raid resident Mega Charizard Y as he burns the trainer between now and April 5th. We’re not sure when Mega Manectric will return to the raid track, so if you’re up for a challenge, check out our tips below.

Mega Manectric will be the high-profile Pokemon Go mega-raid starting April 5th.

What is a “Super” Pokémon?

Before we get started, let’s answer a simple question: what makes a “super” Pokemon different from a regular Pokemon? First introduced in 2013’s Pokemon X and Y, Mega Evolutions are temporary power-ups that designate a Pokemon that can be used, allowing the Pokemon to take on a more powerful form as long as the player collects the correct corresponding items during the adventure.

In Pokemon Go, a Pokemon with a Mega form can access it by consuming that Pokemon-specific Mega Energy, which is earned through activities such as researching quests and catching other Pokemon. The first transformation to Mega form will cost 200 Mega Energy, and future transformations will cost 40.

Super Pokemon not only increases stats, but also provides a damage boost to other Pokemon participating in the raid. The conversion only lasts eight hours, though, so make sure you’ll get the most out of the time given.

Super Rampage Timeline

Mega Manectric will enter the Mega Raid ring from April 5th at 10am local time until April 12th at 8pm. Unfortunately, the game’s raids don’t follow any set schedule — a Mega Raid is one of six levels a raid can go on once the countdown starts — but the game keeps telling you who’s raiding nearby, so please pay attention to. Specifically, Mega Raids are represented by a special red egg.

Mega Manectric Weaknesses and Countermeasures

Mega Manectric is an all-electric Pokemon that has maintained the same weaknesses and resistances since the days of the Game Boy. So longtime Pokemon veterans, and even those who left and returned to Pokemon ways, will know how to prepare for this super raid.

Ground moves are the only types in the entire game that deal bonus damage to the Mega Manectric, so you’ll need to load up your team with ground types and fight with the power of the earth. Donphan, Hippowdon, Groudon, and the original Kanto forms of Marowak and Sandslash are all pure ground types that will play a big role in Mega Manectric battles. If those options aren’t available to you, Garchomp, Mamoswine, and Rhyperior all have second-class moves that are no weaker than Electric, so they’re all valid options too

types to avoid

Mega Manectric’s pure electricity means he can resist three attack types: Electric, Flying, and Steel. Try to avoid motorized mirror matches with Pokemon like Electivire, steel models like Steelix should stay in the furnace, this time keep birds like Zapdos and Pidgeot safe in their nests. Also, while the Mega Manectric cannot resist these attacks, please do not bring any Water Pokemon into this attack. It won’t end well for you.

We’re still a few days away from the Mega Manectric joining the Mega Raid roster, so if you haven’t taken part in the current five-star raids Tapu Lele or Mega Charizard Y Mega Raid, get ready.
