Pokemon Go Mega Pidgeot Raid Guide: Best Counters, Weaknesses, Raid Times and More Tips

Niantic has announced the full list of Mega Raids that will be joining Pokemon Go in April, with trainers going up against the mega-version of the final evolution of the first bird listed in Pokedex starting April 12.

Mega Pidgeot is named as one of two Pokemon Go Mega Raids running from April 12th to April 29th. It will follow Mega Manectric, whose Mega Raid is scheduled to run the week before from April 5th to April 12th. Mega Pidgeot’s time as a star, Mega Raid, coincides with the inaugural season of Alola, which brings Gen VII Pokemon to mobile gaming. We’re not sure when Mega Pidgeot will return to the raid track, so check out our tips below if you’re up for a challenge.

Mega Pidgeot is coming to Pokemon Go big raids starting April 12th.

What is a “Super” Pokémon?

Before we get started, let’s answer a simple question: what makes a “super” Pokemon different from a regular Pokemon? First introduced in 2013’s Pokemon X and Y, Mega Evolutions are temporary power-ups that designate a Pokemon that can be used, allowing the Pokemon to take on a more powerful form as long as the player collects the correct corresponding items during the adventure.

In Pokemon Go, a Pokemon with a Mega form can access it by consuming that Pokemon-specific Mega Energy, which is earned through activities such as researching quests and catching other Pokemon. The first transformation to Mega form will cost 200 Mega Energy, and future transformations will cost 40.

Super Pokemon not only increases stats, but also provides a damage boost to other Pokemon participating in the raid. The conversion only lasts eight hours, though, so make sure you’ll get the most out of the time given.

Giant Pidgeot Raid Schedule

Mega Pidgeot will enter the Mega Raid ring from April 12th at 10am local time until April 29th at 8pm. Unfortunately, the game’s raids don’t follow any set schedule – Mega Raids is one of six levels that raids can enter once the countdown begins – but the game keeps telling you who’s raiding nearby, so please pay attention to. Specifically, Mega Raids are represented by a special red egg.

Mega Pidgeot Weaknesses and Countermeasures

Mega Pidgeot is a flying and normal Pokemon, as its normal form has been around since the days of Pokemon Red and Blue. This means its weaknesses and resistances haven’t changed, so even a derelict Pokemon trainer should have no trouble assembling a team to take on the giant bird.

Electric, Ice, and Rock Pokemon will play a key role in this battle, so the Aloran Golem can take center stage with its Electric and Rock dual types. Beyond the shocking rock, make sure to bring your heaviest hitters like Zapdos, Articuno, Electrivire, Regirock, Regice, Zekrom and Kyurem to deal serious damage fast.

types to avoid

The Mega Pidgeot’s double typing gives it some extra resistance than the average bird, which means you’ll have more to think about when the showdown comes. Bugs, ghosts, grass and ground-type Pokemon will all be weak to this flying ace, so Pokemon like Gengar, Dugtrio, Venusaur and Yanmega shouldn’t join your raid or you’ll have a very bad day. .

Mega Pidgeot is still a few days away from joining the Mega Raid roster, so if you haven’t already, get ready for the current 5-star raid Tapu Lele or Mega Charizard Y Mega Raid.
