Niantic has announced the full 5-star raid for April Pokemon Go, and trainers should be ready to face off against the third Guardian of Aroran starting April 12.
Tapu Bulu, the game’s third legendary Pokemon from the Alolan region, has been named the latest Pokemon Go 5-star raid, running from now until April 26th. Time for Tapu Bulu as a 5-star raid on Pokemon with Pokemon announced Go April 2022’s event schedule coincides with the game’s Season of Alora event, bringing Pokemon Sun and Moon to the game.
Tapu Bulu is the third “Tapu” Pokemon to be introduced to Pokemon Go, Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele are already in the game, and only Tapu Fini is still around. Tapbulu Raid Timeline
Tapu Bulu begins its entry into the five-star Raid ring on April 12th at 10am local time and will stay until April 26th at 8pm. Unfortunately, the game’s raid doesn’t follow any set schedule — there’s no guarantee that Tapu Bulu will be waiting for you — but the game will keep telling you who’s raiding nearby, so keep an eye out.
For those in need of Tapu Bulu’s look, though, there’s a silver lining: Pokemon Go’s weekly raid time on Wednesday night. Two of April’s Raid Hour events — April 13th and 20th from 6pm to 7pm local time — will feature Land Spirit Pokemon at nearly every gym in the game. If you want a guaranteed shoot at Tapu Bulu, gather your friends and head out after dinner these two Wednesday nights.
Tapbulu’s Weaknesses and Countermeasures
Tapu Bulu is a Grass and Fairy Pokemon, a rare duo in the Pokemon universe shared only by four other Pokemon: Cottonee and Whimsicott from Gen V, and Morelull and Shiinotic from Gen VII. While Tapu Bulu’s typewriter is hard to find elsewhere, its five weaknesses should make building a team against it easier to pin down.
The Poison-type Pokémon is Tapu Bulu’s Poke-Kryptonite, and the poison-type moves are more effective on both Grass-type and Fairy-type Pokémon. Therefore, Weezing, Nidoking/Nidoqueen, Muk and Gengar will be invaluable in the battle against this island god.
Fire, Flight, Ice, and Steel moves are also particularly effective on Tapbulu, so any mix of Skarmory, Charizard – maybe the Mega Charizard Y you caught in the current Mega Raid – Ho-Oh, Articuno, or Aroran Nine-Tails will help in the battle ahead.

The grass and goblin type Tapbulu can resist seven Pokemon types, almost half of the 18 featured in Pokemon games, so there are plenty of Pokemon to avoid. Dark, Dragon, Electric, Fighting, Grass, Ground and Water Pokemon will all fight Tapu Bulu from behind, so leave the traditional strong Pokemon like Blastoise, Dragonite, Lucario, Umbreon and Absol behind When challenging raids.
It’s still a while before Tapu Bulu joins the 5-star quest roster, so get ready by catching as much grass as you can during the current Lush Jungle event, or if you haven’t already taken part in the current 5-star quest Tapu Lele , please be prepared to do so yet.
