Niantic has announced the full raids for Pokemon Go in April, and trainers will meet the second Therian Forme of the Unova region legend starting April 5th.
Thundurus Therian Forme is back in Pokemon Go again, featuring a five-star raid from April 5-12. It follows Tornadus Therian Forme as the top raid from March 15th to March 20th. The timing of Thundurus Therian Forme as a five-star raid on Pokemon was announced alongside Pokemon Go’s April 2022 event schedule, which runs concurrently with the game’s season of the Alora event to introduce Pokemon Sun and Moon into the game.
Thundurus Therian Forme is the second of three Therian Forme legends to rotate into the five-star raid scene, with the final member of the trio Landorus Therian Forme entering the arena on April 26. Thundurus Therian Forme Raid Schedule
Thundurus Therian Forme will enter the five-star Raid ring from April 5th at 10am local time until April 12th at 8pm. Unfortunately, the game’s raids don’t follow any set schedule — there’s no guarantee that Thundurus will enter the gym used for combat — but the game will keep telling you who’s raiding nearby, so keep an eye out.
For those in need of a Thundurus Therian Forme look, though, there’s hope: Pokemon Go’s weekly raid time on Wednesday night. The April 6 Raid Hour event (6pm-7pm local time) will feature Bolt Strike Pokemon at nearly every gym in the game. If you want a guaranteed shoot at the Thundurus Therian Forme, gather your friends and set off after dinner on April 6th.
Thundurus Therian Form and Counter
Thundurus Therian Forme is an electric and flying Pokemon, and this combination doesn’t create many weaknesses. In fact, only two of the 18 types of Pokemon deal extra damage to this beast, so it’s important to understand what they are and plan accordingly.
Ice and Rock Pokemon are the only two Pokemon types whose movements deal extra damage to the Thundurus Therian Forme. Unfortunately, the only Pokemon that exists with this dual type, the sixth-gen Aurorus, has yet to appear in Pokemon Go, so you’ll have to get creative with your team. Alolan Ninetales is a solid choice for this raid as it is a formidable attacker with no weakness against Thundurus, while Beartic, Lycanroc, Sudowoodo and two of the three Regis of Regirock and Regice will do well Good choice.

Thundurus has three times the resistances of its weak points, which means that one-third of all Pokemon types will take less damage in the heat of battle. Bug, Fighting, Flying, Grass, Ground and Steel Pokemon are all weak to Thundurus’ Electric and Flying barrages, so don’t bring any Pokemon or use any of these types of attacks, you should Go home for free.
It’s still a while before Thundurus Therian Forme joins the 5-star raid roster, so if you haven’t already, get ready for the current 5-star raid Tapu Lele or Mega Charizard Y Mega Raid.
