Settlers RTS game delayed again

It looks like fans of the RTS game series The Settlers will have to wait again for Ubisoft’s latest reboot to arrive. Settler, which launched on March 17 after a delay announced in 2020, has now been delayed again. The delay appears to be due to negative feedback collected after a recent closed beta test.
“The recent closed beta was a great opportunity for all participating players to share valuable feedback about the current state of the game, and we want to thank you for your participation,” the Settlers team wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. “When we looked at this feedback, it was clear to our team that the quality had not yet met the team’s vision. Therefore, we have decided to delay the game’s release to a later date.”
This is sure to disappoint fans who have been waiting for a new version of the classic strategy game for the past few years, but it could also be a relief for players who can try the closed beta. As strategy editor Joe Robinson noted in his hands-on experience with The Settlers’ closed beta, the economic model introduced this time around “feels pretty simple,” especially when compared to Anno, Ubisoft’s other economic strategy game series.
“There is no need to replicate the sophistication of a full-fledged economic simulation game,” Joe wrote. “But what Yes There [in The Settlers] will not give way to any meaningful interaction. “

It’s unclear if this was the sentiment that prompted Ubisoft’s decision to delay Settler again, and the team has yet to announce a new release date.
“The extra time will be used to further improve the game and improve the quality, which is a priority for all of our players,” the developer said. “We will update you in due course and provide you with more details on The Settlers’ next milestone.”
On the official website, commenters appeared relieved that the team took this step, with many thanking the developers for the delay in comments to a news post announcing the delay. Hopefully soon we’ll learn more about the new release window.
