Spider-Man: Homeless may finally be dethroned at the box office this weekend

After four weeks at the top of the box office, it looks like Spider-Man: Nowhere is going to finally be dethroned this coming weekend.
Paramount’s new film “The Scream,” which opens Friday, is expected to generate more than $20 million at the box office over the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. Meanwhile, No Way Home is estimated to make $16 million to $19 million, so it might be close. The numbers are from the collider.
No Way Home has held the No. 1 spot since its December 17 release in the US. No other big movie, like The Matrix: Resurrection and The King’s Man, can’t replace it, but Scream seems to finally do it.
With more than $1.5 billion at the global box office, “No Way Home” is now the eighth-largest film in global cinema history. In the U.S. alone, No Way Home has generated more than $670 million in revenue.
The new Scream brings back series stars Neff Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, the first new entry in the series since 2011’s The Scream 4. GameSpot’s Scream review gave the film a 9/10.
“The killing is still brutal, sometimes more brutal than in previous films, the humor is still self-referential and satirical, and the tension from the opening to the violent climax never eases. It’s a screaming movie through and through,” Chris Heiner wrote.
