Spider-Man: No Homecoming streaming service confirmed, but it’s not what you’d expect

Spider-Man: Nowhere is coming to the streaming service this year, but it might not be what you were expecting. In fact, unless you’ve been following a complex network of permissioned transactions for the past few years, it might actually be the last place you’d expect it: Starz.

Thanks to a previous licensing deal with Sony Pictures, Starz has exclusive rights to the web-thrower’s third solo outing, which Deadline reports will begin streaming on the service “sometime in the next six months.” That may come as a surprise to Disney+ subscribers, who were hoping No Way Home would land on the more familiar streaming series sooner.

Sony Pictures and Disney signed an agreement last year that stipulates that Sony Pictures’ theatrical releases between 2022 and 2026 will be released on Netflix first before streaming on Disney+. However, as Spider-Man: Nowhere is released in December 2021, it is not included in this deal. As such, Starz will retain streaming exclusivity for 18 months, at which point the film is expected to appear on other major streaming platforms.

If this is all a little confusing to you, you’re not the only one. Rest assured, one day Spider-Man: Nowhere will find its way to Disney+. It may not be as fast as we all hoped.
