Stardew Valley is now fully self-published
Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone has now taken over full publishing duties for Stardew Valley. While Chucklefish handled the job on Android, Barone has now taken over as well.
The developers marked the occasion by hosting a Q&A session on Twitter, and there were some nice tidbits.baron reiterate Yes, there may be more Stardew Valley updates. But if it does happen, don’t expect it to be as big as update 1.5. If you are interested in the publishing side of things, Barone share Working with Steam is the easiest, like “if there’s something wrong with your game, it’s your responsibility”.
Naturally someone asked about Barong’s next game, Haunted Chocolate. There’s a link between Stardew Valley and the upcoming PC game, though Barone hasn’t revealed what that is. In case you were wondering, haunted chocolatiers are indeed fans of chocolate. “I enjoy [it]but I also think making chocolates and candies in a dark, snowy town sounds like a fun and cozy thing to do, with a lot of room for imagination and magic,” he said. Say.
Barone also talked about the challenges of work-life balance. “It can be difficult and I fail a lot,” he said. Say. “But what helps most is if you make a game that excites you so much and try to have fun while making it. Everyone needs some leisure time, but if you can have fun at work , you can make up a little bit.”
