Steam Next Fest: Crossfire Legion, Intense C&C RTS from Homeworld 3 dev

🖥️

The Steam Next Fest is underway, and fans of RTS games might want to try out developer Blackbird Interactive’s Crossfire: Legion demo — the team behind the upcoming Homeworld 3 and Hardspace: Shipbreaker — which looks more like an update on StarCraft and Command. Action-focused combo & conquest: General.

Crossfire: Legion, a strategy game spin off of the popular Korean online FPS Crossfire, recently released a campaign on Xbox from Alan Wake and Control developer Remedy. However, we played RTS last month and can confirm that you don’t need to know anything to get into Crossfire: Legion and enjoy it.

The game is scheduled to release an early access version in the coming months. However, you can now play RTS on Steam as it’s available as a demo as part of the Steam Next Fest. Note that this is a preview of the PvP-only multiplayer game, which Blackbird Interactive says will be the basis for the first Early Access release.

According to Blackbird, the final version of Crossfire: Legion will have a “narrative-driven” single-player campaign and is expected to be released by the end of 2022 – although this may be released earlier depending on how long the game needs access to. As the trailer below shows, it definitely has a strong StarCraft vibe with a more authentic C&C general feel – albeit with crazier units like C&C3 or Red Alert.

Anyway, if you don’t mind it being a multiplayer game right now, you can try Crossfire: Legion for yourself on Steam – just hurry up, and like all Steam Next Fest demos, it’s only available in February Available until the 28th.
