4K gaming is a good job. You need a lot of rendering power to achieve a good frame rate with such a high resolution. However, if you are using a top graphics card, such as GeForce RTX 3080, then this dream can finally become a reality.

LG UltraGear is the first 4K Nano IPS 1ms gaming monitor that can properly display your next-generation GPU. This 4K 27-inch HDR display has a refresh rate of 144Hz and a response time of 1 millisecond-which is wild for a 4K display. The most impressive thing about this LG is Nano IPS technology, which provides a wider color gamut and excellent viewing angle.

LG UltraGear 27GN950-B provides you with an excellent panel with exquisite IPS image quality. Although the HDR function is poor, the colors and contrast in the game are also beautiful. G-Sync provides a stable picture and smoothness in the game, and the fast refresh rate and response time also support this.

As a close cousin of the Acer Predator X27, the XB273K itself was once the top of the pile, a very good 4K monitor. It takes advantage of everything the X27 does, with few compromises to relocate it to a cheaper model.

Now often found below the $1,000 mark, it is more attractive than Acer X27, the only real change is HDR; the HDR quality of XB273K is slightly lower. But nothing more. Considering that HDR games on PC are still in a nightmare state, this is not a huge mistake.

You will still get truly excellent image quality, with excellent color vividness, contrast and depth; the 144Hz refresh rate means it is perfect for competitive shooting games. G-Sync provides the best adaptive synchronization technology, with an impressive port array covering you. Overall, it provides such a comprehensive overall experience and you will have no regrets.

A budget 4K monitor

Refresh rate: 60Hz

Reasons to buy

Reasons to avoid

-No HDR-No local dimming

The LG 27UL650 is a killer 4K gaming monitor, priced under $500. This IPS panel display has improved color and contrast than its predecessor, and provides lower input delay for gaming.

Assuming that you are not just making games; this LG shows excellent sports color accuracy and HDR10, making watching movies and editing worthwhile. The only real disadvantages are the standard 60Hz refresh rate and the fact that the monitor has no built-in speakers, so you must also invest in a good pair of headphones and/or desktop speakers. But generally speaking, no matter what, we recommend using it on almost all miniature display speakers.

-Poor HDR and local dimming-high price

After entering the ill-fated start of the tablet world, Eve used Spectrum ES07D03 to push it out of the park. This is a beautifully designed gaming monitor with an amazing LG panel and all the features of a modern screen you might need. This is the result of the crowd-creation process designed for Spectrum, and it does seem to have paid off.

Except for those who want decent HDR. The peak brightness is 750cd/m2, and the backlight array has a little local dimming. I hope there are more bright spots in my HDR scene. Sadly, this is still a struggle for PC games and their monitors. But everything else Eve Spectrum did surprised me. The LG Nano IPS panel is great, colorful and dynamic, I am a little in love with it.

Spectrum also supports HDMI 2.1, so it can provide a full 144Hz commitment on 4K PCs and next-generation consoles, which you used to require a DisplayPort connection to do.

Like any 4K/144Hz screen you might mention, the price tag can be prohibitive. But a gaming monitor is an investment, and this screen will last longer than your current PC, and it may be more durable than your next PC. Therefore, it is always worthwhile to spend something you might be able to afford on a new screen.

The best high-priced 4K monitor

Specification

Screen size: 27 inches

Panel type: IPS

Aspect ratio: 16:9

Response time: 4 milliseconds

Refresh rate: 144Hz

Weight: 28 pounds

Reasons to buy

+ Cool design + Excellent image quality, including Nvidia G-Sync technology + 144Hz refresh rate

Reasons to avoid

-Little contrast

It may be a bit obvious, but packing many high-end features into the display means that it will be expensive. ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ is an incredible monitor, but it is not cheap. This money does bring you more features than any other monitor here, and maybe that’s enough to make it unique. In addition to the exceptionally clear, bright and detailed images displayed by the PG27UQ’s 4K and HDR-enabled 27-inch display, this display also uses Nvidia G-Sync technology, making it an absolute screen behemoth. Although we do hope that the contrast on this near-perfect screen is slightly better.

On the back, it depends a bit on the connection, but you should have everything you need: HDMI 2.0 input, DisplayPort 1.4, 3.5mm audio, and two USB 3.0 ports. It is also a well-designed kit, the bracket effectively gathers the cables, and it looks cool. I especially like ROG eyes, no matter where you put the monitor, it will shine on the surface.

The price is high, it may be prohibitive, but it will not disappoint those who take risks.

5. Philips Momentum 558M1RY

The best MASSIVE 4K gaming monitor

Specification

Screen size: 55 inches

Panel type: VA

Aspect ratio: 16:9

Response time: 4 milliseconds

Refresh rate: 120Hz

Weight: 58.4 pounds

Reasons to buy

+ TV ratio, but with DisplayPort + bright and colorful + built-in black and white soundbar + MASSIVE

Reasons to avoid

-Some anti-ghosting

I was totally attracted by the sheer size and majesty of the Philips 55-inch monitor behemoth. Apart from Nvidia’s BFGD, no other PC monitor can match this monster. However, despite its impressive scale and speed, there are still some shortcomings. Although they are not factors that disrupt transactions, they do need to be considered.

But first is good. This 4K VA panel has a DisplayHDR 1000 certificate and can render its original resolution of 3840×2160 at a speed of up to 120Hz. Unfortunately, for console gamers, its HDMI version is only 2.0, so your next-generation game box will be limited to 4K/60. However, Series X will reach 120Hz at 1440p, even though the PS5 still Ignore this option.

For us PC users, this is not a problem, because Philips monitors support DisplayPort 1.4, so we can get a full 4K resolution at a frequency of 120Hz. Coupled with its bright, vibrant panel, the screen is perfect for smooth 4K gaming. And I’m still attracted by Philips’ Ambilight technology, which surrounds RGB LEDs on the back of the display, and can individually change the color tone to match the corresponding color of the panel itself.

My only real reservations revolve around some responsive settings. In order to make the large panel respond quickly, Philips provides different levels of SmartResponse, but the more aggressive you set these, the more anti-ghosting will often appear on high-contrast moving images. Playing FIFA in 4K resolution, I can notice the problem of the player’s edge. However, if you are experiencing “Doom Eternal”, then it will only be prominent smooth motion and bright colors. That and tips, obvs.

Frequently asked questions about the best 4K gaming monitors

Is the 4K gaming monitor worth using for PC gaming?

The most important thing to consider is whether you have a PC that makes 4K gaming monitors worth the money. Upgrading to one of the best graphics cards will ensure that your machine will not just render game slides with an upgrade to 4K. If you also want a larger screen size, that will help.

The first 4K monitor we tested was excellent, but only had a 24-inch panel, so we couldn’t fully appreciate the 8.3 million pixels we generated. Upgrade to a 55-inch Philips Momentum monitor and your high-resolution world will become even bigger.

How do we test 4K gaming monitors?

There are two main ways to test the screen to determine if it is the best gaming display material. The first is to play games on it. Subjectively testing the gaming performance of each panel will not necessarily let you know the details of a particular screen. Nonetheless, it still allows you to test the effective aspect ratio, native resolution, and any specific gamer-centric technology they are using.

Performing side-by-side comparison tests in this way is also invaluable for understanding the sometimes subtle differences between each panel. When you use the screen alone, when you get used to them, it’s easy to turn a blind eye to their relatively shortcomings. Back-to-back test screens allow us to discover and highlight specific…
