Three new high-end AMD Radeon RX 6000 GPUs are coming soon

Despite plans to launch RDNA 3 graphics cards later this year, AMD appears to be cheering its RX 6000 series one last time in the form of three new high-end models. These new RDNA 2 GPUs are likely designed to compete with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 30X0 Ti lineup, and we won’t have to wait long to find out how competitive they are.

According to Chiphell forum poster Entusiastic Citizen (from Tyrannosaurus 55), we can expect AMD to unveil the RX 6650 XT, RX 6750 XT and new flagship RX 6950 XT on April 20th or 21st. Citizen claims that the three cards will have higher performance in addition to memory speeds of up to 18Gbps, but will also be slightly more expensive.

Based on this release date, AMD’s Radeon RX 6950 XT will go head-to-head with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3090 Ti for the title of best graphics card on the market. While these GPUs will undoubtedly provide top-notch performance, they will likely cost as much as an entire gaming PC, so we don’t expect the availability or demand for either of these cards to be particularly high.

Considering how late these cards are in the RX 6000-series life cycle, it might be wise to delay any upgrades until AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture-based RX 7000 GPUs arrive later this year.

Alternatively, you can opt for Intel Arc Alchemist or Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 Pixel Boosters, as those will also debut in 2022. Hopefully, the current downward trend in graphics card prices will continue so that we can enjoy a wealth of options at prices closer to MSRP.
