Ukraine benefits DLC program for Soviet city builders

The Cold War-themed city-building game Workers and Resources: The Soviet Republic is about to get a Ukraine-themed DLC. The developers say they’re working with the game’s modding community to create a DLC pack that reminds players of “the history of Ukraine and the greatness of its people.” All proceeds will be donated to relief efforts for Ukrainians devastated by the ongoing invasion of the Russian Federation.
The DLC is currently in the early planning stages. The small team behind Workers and Resources, developer 3Division, which is based in Slovakia, which borders Ukraine, said the goal of the DLC is to increase revenue to donate to “people in need” in Ukraine. At this time, the studio has not identified a relief organization or NGO to process donations, but it says its aim is also to give all Ukrainians free access to the DLC, provided there is a way to make that happen.
3Division says it wants to work with its modding community to create special Ukrainian-themed assets for workers and resources, such as “buildings, vehicles, or something else.”
Given the ongoing war, the studio needs some time to discuss the topic of workers and resources.
“The theme of the game is inspired by [by the] The Soviet past, the republics we create in the game are located in NATO and [the] USSR, like Czechoslovakia or some other Central European countries used to be,” the developers wrote. In workers and resources, you can trade freely with NATO or the USSR, and without any military component.
“We hope we take something from the past that makes sense from a gaming perspective and make it into a game that you can play and have fun with, but things are different in real life,” the team wrote. “The real world is not as simple and peaceful as our games.”
“Sadly, we have to say that the era of peace in Europe is over as Russia invaded a sovereign European country and now people are suffering because of the war going on behind our borders,” 3Division said. “We see this as an act of aggression against the peaceful country and people of Ukraine. Our hearts are touched and we want to find a way to help those Ukrainians who suffer the consequences of violence in their lives.”
As it’s still in the early stages, the Ukrainian DLC Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic has yet to set a release date.
