World of Warcraft devs are building a ‘hybrid approach’ to class sets


World of Warcraft is getting class sets again in the upcoming 9.2 update, offering personalized armor designs for the class you’re playing. This is the first time such a feature has appeared in a game since Legion, and Blizzard’s developers are trying to create a “hybrid approach” between the old identity-focused set of class gear and the latest designs that reflect it. “For our reintroduced set of lessons, we’re trying a hybrid approach,” explains Day. “The ancestors had these awesome geometric shapes, and you’d see them all over the area, even with the magic they cast. Internally, we call it “math magic.” It’s like, ‘Wow, well, they’re just throwing numbers at me, it’s crazy! You’ll see that shape language in the armor, but you can also See your professional fantasy elements in the armor.”
