Xbox PC app now lets you install games anywhere

If you’re one of the millions of PC Game Pass subscribers, or you just love using the Xbox app on Windows, there’s a welcome new feature in the official Xbox app: now you can play anywhere on your PC The game is installed, and you can also browse game files freely.
In the past, the Xbox app on Windows restricted users from installing games to the WindowsApps or XboxGames folders, which were otherwise inaccessible without changing the operating system’s permissions. While this provides an extra layer of security, it makes modifying games difficult – if not impossible – and often makes managing multiple games a pain.
The latest version of the Xbox app lets you choose where you want to install your games. You can create folders on any storage device and browse game files after installing them, just like on Steam. One of the main benefits of doing this is that you can now easily backup and restore any game files you might need, such as saves.
According to The Verge, the update should hit all Windows 10/11 PCs today, so keep an eye out for it on the Microsoft Store app.
