Cyber​​ Shadow also provides you with a arsenal of various gameplay methods. Although you only have the ability to slash with a katana at the beginning, as time goes by, more power enters the mixture. Ninja Stars, fireballs, sprints, etc. provide you with new options, and you are dealing with mini-machines. Armor, moths and mechanical monsters are all in the same enclosed space. In most cases, these boosters are simple but effective: for example, a longer sword can help you keep your distance from the enemy. But occasionally, you will get something that can kill you completely, such as the Swag Blade, which is a magical chainsaw that will spin around you and destroy anything it touches. Even in the future of cyberpunk style, it doesn’t make much sense for a ninja to have one of them, but unlike other weapons in the game, it makes you almost invincible in a short time, making it your best Choose the arsenal.

Slow start

The sprint ability changes the game, you think it would be better to have it from the beginning, and the parry ability feels a bit wasteful. It does not have many effective enemies, and Cyber​​Shadow always feels better when you cause damage to your front foot.

So far, my biggest complaint about combat is knocking back-taking damage will cause you to take a step back. Many classic games have it, and many retro-style games imitate it. I don’t like any of them, nor do I like it here. Most enemies will only remove one HP bar, but some arena hazards (lava, spikes) will cause immediate death. Slightly injured by flying insects in complete health, only to be knocked back to spikes, this is one of the few cheap deaths in Cyber ​​Shadow. Even though I prefer to use repulsion as a design element, I don’t think I would consider this to be a fair punishment for a single mistake.

In addition to repelling excitement, Cyber ​​Shadow’s enemies have a lot to love. There are a few interesting gimmicks, such as splitting into two smaller enemies after being hit, picking up the reward boxes around the level and throwing them at you, or launching projectiles to keep you dodge. Probably the best is the floating green cylinders; they won’t attack at all, they just hover threateningly above you, following your footsteps, ready to consume your health immediately when you jump. However, they will move in a short period of time, so if you are fast enough, you will make better use of them.

Those green cylinders are not Cyber ​​Shadow’s best looking enemies, but it has some excellent designs elsewhere. Although the size and resolution of the elves are small, we have seen huge changes, from Rock’Em Sock’Em style robots equipped with pistols to slender, metallic insects inspired by facial hugs. At the same time, the bosses are doing the opposite, using their ability to fill up the screen and embracing the “more is better” philosophy of the 1980s.

When you praise the graphics of retro games like this, it sometimes causes some sneers: after all, games have had “better” graphics for decades. But Cyber ​​Shadow’s high-contrast colors, black space, minimalist NPC sprites, and super-designed Boss provide perfect examples of why this artistic style is still so popular—it works.

There was a boss battle with a flying robot with a ray gun/sword (yes, it merged into one in some way), which took place on the roof of a skyscraper crumbling in heavy rain, while laser beams fell from the sky. Keep your ray tracing, realistic CGI and teraflops. This is the best graphics level to experience this muddy mess, otherwise I would not hear it.
