The striker has all the style and confidence of Persona 5, painted with bold colors and sparkling character animation, so that every scene has the vitality of the comic panel, all the way to the menu. The smooth, jazzy soundtrack creates the energy of the 70s psychedelic spy movies, even though we are dealing with teenagers from all over Japan. There is even a 30-hour story in which most of the actors and voice actors have returned. The way it walks and talks is almost the same as Persona 5, and this game hasn’t even appeared on PC yet.

But the striker is not Persona 5, and this comparison is unpleasant. Its social elements and battles are not as fully functional as “Persona 5”, and its characters are not as deeply rooted as “Persona 5”, so any expectation of equality will lead to disappointment. The striker is a wild but bloated visual novel with little room for expression or choice, and some of the best turn-based battles are replaced with repetitive action game battles. The strikers will give the fans of Persona 5 some painful whipping.

Fake friend

In Persona 5: Strikers, you will return as the same unnamed high school student and reunite with Phantom Thieves, a group of your friends who fight the invisible psychological threat that plagues Metaverse in Persona 5. It sounds complicated, but the Persona series is just a cultural issue in social and surreal fantasy costumes. People fight each other with their mental and physical manifestations, which basically makes it a kind of surreal Pokemon game. I chose you, a strange sewer monster in the shape of a penis, why are you crying? ! etc.

The big bad guys have moved from greedy adults to the more invisible influence of social media on young people. The villains have built a lot of dungeons out of arrogance, from nightmare amusement parks injected by hot topics to stupidity torn from artificial young adult literature pages. Fantasy castles. These scenes are divided between real road trips through Japan, making “The Strikeers” sound like an ideal side story, a special summer reunion episode. The story is very good, but it lacks the special elements of Persona 5.

In Persona 5, social simulation is the core of the game. Go to school, plan who I will be with after I plan, pay attention to what my friends like and what their problems are, so when the time comes, I know what to say is correct-my schedule, and ticking The clock created tension and forced me to make interesting decisions. Am I hanging out with Long Si today or studying for the exam? Due to the limited number of days between the huge, story-changing deadlines, my choice determines who I build lasting friendships with and who I leave as accidental acquaintances.

Among the strikers, the daily rhythm does not exist. No social links need to be handled with care. I only get upgrade points occasionally after certain scenes, most of which can be used in ordinary battles. Dialogue choices rarely have an impact, and if so, there is no feedback to say so. Passing time in Strikers can quickly become monotonous, with endless conversations and scene changes without interaction. I hope you like “Persona 5” and have unlimited patience. Except for some limp character beats, there is little reason for Strikers to stay here for 30 hours.

The premise may be the only reason I persevere.I wish I had something so simple and Cool When I was young, I used the lens of jazz, anime and street art to explore the impact of social media and data collection on daily life. I mean, the first boss was an influential man, and he turned into a terrible rabbit in the center of a crazy amusement park. The rabbit’s big, fluffy tail has a damn mouth. I don’t know that apart from making “The Strikeers” look more interesting, while the characters convey to each other long, inspiring messages about influence and popularity and the true meaning of friendship, I don’t know how it’s on the subject Any help, but it does work. Most of my attention is spent waiting to see Striker’s next wild monster or psychedelic environment make a silly attack on the insidious social media design.

There is nothing particularly sharp or profound about the striker’s story, but for young viewers, its criticism may be instructive. This is also an optimistic story, a road trip with old friends, encouraging action and hope in the face of seemingly stubborn, ancient institutions. The striker can be cute, but while beating the same grunts and monsters time and time again, the light will disappear.

Hit the heart

Koei Tecmo likes it here, or despises Dynasty Warriors style battle more than anything, including the fussy camera, it can never seem to highlight the guy who is about to launch a huge attack out of sight. Tapa-Tapa-Tapa. Light attack, light attack, heavy attack, dodge and repeat, forever. Even Berserk derivatives cannot make me like these things. However, this time you are not working on a large battlefield, but murdering millions of people for control points. Among the strikers, the battle usually starts like in Persona 5 or most other JRPGs. You will see an enemy wandering in the dungeon, bumping into it, and then the room suddenly becomes a fire hazard, crowded with dozens of enemies.

Combat is only one part of Dynasty Warriors action. Repeated melee combat supported by the Persona Summoning System, which uses mental points or precious health points to cause elemental damage and opens the door to the enemy for special attacks. Some strategies are involved, but the action is actually equivalent to managing the crowd, choosing the most effective character attack to cause serious damage to as many enemies as possible, and then repeating. Enemies will also respawn in the dungeon, make sure you have a good understanding of the basic combinations.

The strikers never slow down and truly teach any nuances in the battle. Most situations are easily solved by the basic combination of each character and appropriate dodge and elemental personality attacks, and there are no special requirements for the context of the battle process or most scenarios, teaching or rewarding more advanced combos and role switching. I did it all with the same pounding tactics I learned in Lego Star Wars 15 years ago. Sometimes I stun a group of enemies and start performing special actions or full-scale attacks, giving me a cool animation, but then I go back to mines and attack the enemy until there are no more enemies to attack.

I am worried that Persona 5 attracted by the warm, familiar embraces of the strikers. The evangelist is about to hit a boring brick wall.

In contrast, the streamlined turn-based combat of Persona 5 makes full use of each character and its role, forcing players into challenging scenes to confuse their way out. In “Strike”, I really don’t need to think about the composition of my team, nor do I need to think too much about the roles they carry. If I see a weak spot in the enemy’s smudge on the screen, I will deploy it. If I am too satisfied with my character’s abilities and run out of mental points, I will leave the dungeon and return to my character again without being punished by time. I can remember the many different battles that took place in my more than 100 hours of Persona 5, but none of them were smashed through buttons to delete hordes of people within 30 hours of my time with Striker.

The strange thing is that a game that is so faithful to the style of “Persona 5” has been added with such obvious outdated things and expects diehard fans of social turn-based RPG to get along like old friends. There is something on my friend’s skin, tell me there is nothing wrong, that, no, I’m It’s weird. I am worried that the Persona 5 evangelist, attracted by the warm, familiar embraces of the strikers, is about to hit a boring brick wall.

At least it is a good port, just a port that clearly anchors the origin of its console. The biggest regret is the upper limit of 60 fps, especially for animated heavy action games. Textures that look good at the native console resolution have much higher resolutions on the PC, but they are not always the best way. Awnings, vending machines, and anything more than lines and colors have not been modified with higher resolutions. Not devastating, but we like the royal treatment on the PC.

Most importantly, it works well. I easily curled up under the 60 fps limit, and my GTX 3080 barely sweated. After playing for several hours, I did not see any crashes or jams. There are customizable keyboard controls, a good set of language options-works. This is a pretty good port! Seeing “Tokyo” and “Phantom Thief” rendered in 4K resolution with perfect clean lines is both novel and frustrating, which reminds people that although I feel like I’m watching it, it is a Persona on PC 5 is still not the same thing.

Persona 5 Striker is a derivative and sequel to a great RPG novel that most of my friends cannot play yet. But even though it contains a lot of iconic styles in imitating the unique appearance and sound of Persona 5, the striker is a skinny road trip, and its charm cannot make up for the time and attention required to spend unconsciously repeated battles. , And the bet can be ignored.

The strikers are not without their merits-I had a great time there! -It just comes with some of the strongest warnings I have attached in the comments. If you haven’t played Persona 5 (a great mix of RPG and social simulation game), then please don’t play Forward.if you have Have played Persona 5 and like it, but know that you can’t stand the battle of Dynasty Warriors, then look back.Even if you like Dynasty Warriors style fighting and Having played “Persona 5”, Strikers is still just wearing a “Persona 5” tights dancing a strange, jerky dance, you should approach carefully.

There are better third-person fighting games out there. Better RPG. Better visual novels. Except for “Persona 5”, no one looks or sounds a lot like “Strike”, but it would be nice to let the memory of “Persona 5” exist independently (if you can play it).
