Nintendo Switch Online adds three great Genesis games, plus expansion for Splatoon 2
The Nintendo Switch Online+ expansion pack may not be as popular as the name suggests, but it does contain a growing library of Sega Genesis games. Three more services were added today, including the classic Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball for those who kicked the ball with Sonic after watching the new movie.
In addition to Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball (a spinoff of the pinball game), the other two games added to the library are Shining Force iI and Space Harrier II. Shining Force II is a tactical role-playing game that should appeal to players who enjoy games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Triangle Strategy, while Space Harrier II is an orbital shooter and the system’s first game.
They join an already impressive lineup of Genesis games on Switch. Includes classics like Streets of Rage 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Heroes of Gunstar, Contra: Hardcore, Thunder Force 2, Castlevania: Bloodlines, and Aiko the Dolphin . Of course, there’s a lot to add, like other Sonic the Hedgehog and Phantasy Star games.
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership gives you access to Nintendo 64 games to accompany Genesis titles as well as NES and SNES titles for the base membership. It also includes access to some bonus content in the Switch game, as well as the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion DLC as of today. The timing is no coincidence, as Nintendo announced Splatoon 3’s September 9 release date today.
