Workers and Resources: The Soviet Republic is adding water and sewage systems

Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic Secretly is the best city building game as long as you’re the kind of person who likes to set up gravel conveyors, place railroad signals and keep tabs on your citizens through a secret police network. Developer 3Division keeps increasing its complexity, and an upcoming patch will include a water and sewage system.

The latest community report includes some details on how the plumbing system works. Naturally, you first need a source of water, such as a well. This water needs to be piped to a treatment facility where chemicals are added to make it safe to drink. The amount of chemicals needed to purify water depends on the location of the water source—wells in heavily polluted areas require more purification than wells in clean areas.

3Division says they have identified how Workers and Resources will handle things like water pressure and delivery, and now the studio is figuring out how the water system will be connected to the grid and what values will be used to determine water usage.

Initially, only residential structures will need water and sewage systems, but 3Division says it hopes to incorporate industrial buildings into the system at some point as well.

Each new system added in workers and resources increases the number of failure points, which effectively means the game gets harder and harder. 3Division acknowledged this, saying that players can expect the difficulty to rise again when the Water and Sewage update arrives.

First, however, is the crime and justice system, which should come in the next patch. It will be interesting to see how it interacts with the secret police and civic loyalty systems added last year.
