After passing through a riverside village surrounded by demons, I stumbled across the first boss, and I started to use my looted purple ninja knife to cut off a dominating health bar on the screen. It only fell a little bit before it roared, threw me into a dark world, and then killed me with its serrated cleaver. Of course. I have played Dark Souls. I know you are not trying to defeat the first boss. This is just the taste. Then I was born again and realized, no, this is just the beginning of the future mountain.
Nioh 2 is not any other Soulslike; this is what the Ninjas call “masocore”. Based on the tricky challenges of the first game, things here get bigger and worse. But in other intricate evolutions of their own genre, you can also become bigger and worse.
The large number of possible weapons is not the only tool for you to sprinkle the blood of the monster. Your custom character is itself a half monster. This not only means that you can spend meters to enter the raging state of demon beating, but you can also reap the power of defeated demons (such as the Megaman directed by Akira Kurosawa). The use of these super moves is a surprisingly fresh twist in the type, if you just want to make some simple damage and take a breath, you can choose to press the literally “hit it with a huge hammer” button.

Burst Counter even allows you to choose to parry huge boss attacks that cause serious damage to your posture. Burst Counter gives you an option, even the biggest boss. To blend into their movements, you need to cleverly dodge or block the big red glowing hands. However, hitting the burst counter at the correct time will transform you into a demon form within a second, causing significant endurance damage and stunning your enemies. It’s not just simple additions, it feels that these have fundamentally changed your interaction with the game for the better. If you are not paying attention, you will still die easily, but if you know what you are doing, Nioh 2 will not be afraid to give you some wonderful answers that will make your adrenaline soar. Few things feel better than when you can perfectly deal with the attack mode of a difficult Boss and use demonic power to dismantle it.
Ki victory
Each weapon can be used in three stances, from low to high-causing heavier and slower blows to gain more energy (essentially endurance). Right-clicking after the combination will execute the ki pulse, restore a large piece of meter and purify the otherwise suffocating yokai circle of ki. It creates an excellent sense of rhythm and truly rewards you with the feeling of learning weapons.
Each weapon even has its own skill tree, which can unlock special techniques and gains. The more you use it, the more skill points you will gain on the path to mastery. There are 11 types to choose from (not including ranged sub-weapons), including two new weapons included in the full version in the DLC, and can be used from the beginning. Fists and Splitstaff have joined the new Switchglaive and Hatchets in the base game. They feel very unique, demonstrating the talent of the ninja team to make excellent melee weapons. In addition, fighting evil spirits with one’s two hands is just one of the little pleasures in life.

With the addition of special ninja tools and yin and yang magic (you can make it at the shrine), things start to get a little complicated. However, since you are only improving the content you use, your skill advancement will eventually match your own pace. Nioh also canceled elemental weapons, and now only appears in blessed (causing more damage to monster creatures) or monster variants (forged from monster bones, they will “awaken” over time to obtain temporary Strength increase).

During a bloody war period, this is a good excuse for you to travel through Japan.Though because of it always Japan, the region can feel a bit repetitive. You will see many forests, caves, shrines and fortresses. There are many things worth seeing, because this game easily took me about 70 hours to pass the level. In addition to the main tasks, it also adds a lot of auxiliary content, transforming the previous map into a fresh new challenge. Not to mention the three bundled DLC, each DLC adds a few hours. Few other games of this type have such satisfactory gameplay, but the number of repetitions that can be avoided in such a long game is limited.

This is a world as lonely as you want, too. Up to two friends can be summoned to fight alongside you (making the game easier). Ghost data, formerly a reserve for duels with player souls where they were killed, can also be used to summon friendly AI-controlled assistance.
In my experience, the performance is very good, can easily handle smooth 60fps, and even support 120fps (when the particle effect is buzzing, this will be more difficult). At the time of writing this article, there was a problem with the keyboard overlay and could not be displayed, but anyway I have to recommend a controller for this. Thanks to fast posture transitions and pulse timing, playing this on the keyboard is the domain of those who like to directly enter encrypted passwords for business emails. Some distant enemies have some obvious pop-ups, and some environment textures look a bit outdated, but character design and effects are important, and its depth photo mode is one of the best.
Nioh 2 runs and plays beautifully. Since the Dark Soul ignited the world, FromSoftware has had many imitators competing for the crown. Usually, even better people have warnings that are not so good. However, Nioh 2 has evolved what Nioh has been unique into what the Ninja team can call themselves. It may operate in the same type space, but Nioh 2 has its own style, which is different from anything else.
